Planning on heading to Meadowfest this year? Here's everything you need to know about Malton’s midsummer boutique music festival - from what music to expect, to which new food vendors will be showcasing their delicious treats to keep festivalgoers full and dancing all night.
What is Meadowfest?
Situated in the picturesque meadows of The Talbot Hotel in Malton, Meadowfest returns on Saturday 29th July, as the one and only boutique festival brought to you by Visit Malton. The festival is a wonderful celebration of incredible music acts, as well as amazing street food and bars. It’s family-friendly too – with favourites such as the Be Amazing arts ‘Creativitent’, inflatables, face painting, and other activities on offer.
In previous years, Meadowfest has had a main stage, as well as a second smaller stage. However, this year’s Meadowfest is bigger and better than ever, with an upgraded second stage and PA system – meaning better quality sound for the first-class musical talent all day and night.
Who is performing?
Headliner Chesney Hawkes, the iconic singer famous for his single “The One and Only”, will be taking to the stage to perform a set full of classics to transport festivalgoers back to the 90s.
Alongside Chesney Hawkes, visitors can expect a whole host of musical marvels, with a line-up of 11 supporting acts putting on their best performances across the 12-hour festival.
Dedicated to the iconic Swedish pop group ABBA, Arrival will be performing a stadium-standard show right in the heart of Malton. Get your dancing shoes ready for an ABBA-solutely amazing performance!
Yorkshire’s finest, Alchemy Live, headed by frontman Martin Ledger, will also be bringing the sound of British rock band, Dire Straits, to Meadowfest with amazing attention to detail and note for note authentic sounds.
Alistair Griffin, who hails from Whitby, is also heading to Meadowfest to deliver a set of brilliant anthems. Alistair started out busking on the streets of York before appearing on TV’s Fame Academy with Bee Gee’s star Robin Gibb. Now Alistair is famous for creating anthems to accompany some of TV's big sporting moments.
Another Yorkshire favourite, HUGE, are bringing the ultimate party to Malton – playing all the best tunes from Bruno Mars, Take That, Michael Bublé, and Queen – there’s something for everyone to enjoy!
What food will be on offer?
Amongst the idyllic views and catchy music, festivalgoers can also enjoy a taste of Yorkshire, with some delicious street food and drinks that will be available throughout the day. From vegan options and Italian favourites to sweet treats and delectable churros, you won’t be left hungry at Meadowfest!
Nan’s Kitchen, will be offering festivalgoers delicious vegan food that is healthy yet filling and made from scratch using the best quality plant-based ingredients.
For those in the mood for something meaty, Cluck n Dough is a husband and wife-run operation serving up some seriously good Asian inspired chicken burgers along with mouth-watering loaded fries.
The Yorkshire Hot Dog Co will be dishing up hot dogs that are beyond imagination. Made with top quality, free-range Yorkshire pork from an award-winning, high-welfare farm in East Yorkshire, they’re served in a freshly baked roll with a variety of delicious toppings. For even more variety to their great menu, they also offer vegan Bratwursts, so there’s something for everyone!
For the taste of America, The New York’shire Pizza Company is a specialist mobile wood-fired pizzeria with a classic range of pizzas, plus gluten-free, dairy-free, nut-free, vegan, vegetarian and halal options.
HMS Catering promises to transport revellers to Asia as they bring their Oriental Kitchen to cook up a selection of Japanese, Korean, Thai and Chinese cuisines.
If the sweet tooth strikes, look no further than Tadcaster Ices who will be on hand to provide the classics in a traditional ‘Mr Whippy’ ice cream van. If that wasn’t enough, Waffle Box will be serving up a selection of delicious waffles, hot chocolate and coffee and Doughvine Desserts have fresh vegan churros & funnel cakes with a variety of toppings.
On top of all this, the iconic Yorkshire Bus Bars will be on hand to keep festivalgoers topped up with their favourite beverages.
Festival goers are also very welcome to bring their own picnics, excluding any alcohol and glass.
Getting to Meadowfest
The festival is a short distance from Malton train station and there’s ample free parking in the dedicated festival car park – so, whether you’re making the trip on foot from the town centre or driving in, you won’t be struggling with access!
How much are tickets?
Tickets are currently available at £25 (+ £1 booking fee) while stocks last. Once gone, tickets will be priced at £30 in advance or £40 on the door (if any are left!). Tickets for accompanied children (Aged 3-15) are available for £2.50.
