Britain’s Tastiest 10K Returns to the Streets of Yorkshire’s Food Capital for 2021
‘Marathon Du Malton’ is to take place on 19th September 2021 – combining the very best of Yorkshire’s food and drink with a picturesque 10km ‘race’
After 18 months of restrictions, Britain’s tastiest 10k returns to the streets of Malton, Yorkshire’s Food Capital. The Marathon du Malton is a 10km walk, run or stagger with a delicious twist!
Taking place on Sunday 19th September 2021, the Marathon du Malton combines local gourmet food and drink with a 10km route set within the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside, starting and finishing in Malton’s attractive Market Place.
Taking inspiration from the Marathon du Medoc in France’s wine region, the course is open to everyone – seasoned runners, first time fun-runners and enthusiastic walkers. Participants are encouraged to soak up the party atmosphere and enjoy the wide selection of award-winning local produce as they go.
At intervals throughout the race, participants will be able to sample award-winning beer from Malton Brewery and Brass Castle Brewery, roast beef and Yorkshire puddings from The Cook’s Place, macarons from Malton’s very own Master Patissier Florian Poirot and more of Yorkshire’s finest specialities. A spread of truly mouth-watering food and drink not to be missed!
To add to the bustling atmosphere, participants are encouraged to don inventive food-inspired fancy dress outfits to ensure a fun day out. Over the years, there have been some jaw-dropping efforts from competitors and spectators alike – from walking ketchup bottles and hotdogs to giant strawberries, bunches of grapes, snails and even lobsters roaming the streets.
Tom Naylor-Leyland, Visit Malton Director, said: “We’re so excited to see the return of the Marathon Du Malton this September. The past year or so has been tough for everybody so it will be great to see the town unite and create a party atmosphere once again!
“Whether you fancy running the 10k to beat your PB or simply want to take part at a more leisurely pace to enjoy the feast of delicious food and drink around the course, we’d love to see you at the start line.”
There are three French themed entry options available:
· ‘Classique’: The main event – a ‘fun-run’ with food, drink and a party atmosphere
· ‘Escargot’: Ideal for those who prefer to complete the course at a more leisurely pace, you can even walk your dog on this one!
· ‘Elite’: This one is aimed at serious sprinters just looking for a personal best (no food and drink included)
Tickets can be booked at www.visitmalton.com/marathon-du-malton and start at £25 with a small booking fee.
